This entry is not the actual rp (as it was never fully completed, though approved and intigrated into the RP world) it’s actually the outline. This should give anyone interested a good idea of what the rp would have looked like had we finished it as well as information on the arches and their true nature.
History
—-
The Age of Legends – By an Ajah created for the study of the mind and mental health issues, a device was created which would not only allow people who had suffered trauma in their current lives to reflect on those times and work through the problems (as per hypnosis techniques only much more of a precise art with this device) but to begin to examining the lives they had previously lived in the course of the Wheel’s turning to help resolve issues mental health issues of the present. It was hoped, if successful in the later, that the men and women of that time would learn how to prevent past mistakes which brought about the rise of the terrible “myths” of their past.
1200 AB Circa – The Aes Sedai find a large Ter’Angreal, consisting of three silver arches joined to a silver circle, which is eventually taken to the White Tower. The Ter’Angreal is later used in the test for those Novices who are to be raised to the Accepted. Initial investigation indicates that channeling the One Power while within the Ter’Angreal is dangerous, and can result in a loss of the ability to both channel and sense the True Source. [TGH-TP-289]
Approximately 200 years ago – Telcia Alainin passes through the arches and is deeply troubled by the event and as a result, as an Aes Sedai, she focus’on trying to find some reason to convince the Tower to stop using this device for testing. For years she could find nothing other than the same things which all others endured before her and after.
Approximately 185 years ago – Telcia learns she can foretell and so begins to wonder if what she saw in her arches didn’t “feel” real but, was instead a foretelling of some kind.
Approximately 100 years ago – Eriya “Kit” Sedai of the Brown Ajah, a young Sister, learns she can identify Ter’Angreal and begins discussions with Telcia about the nature of the Arches. Both work on this for many years attending as many raisings as possible to study the objects without question or interruption while they are active.
Pre-Arad Doman False Dragon RP – Telcia and Kit discuss the purpose of the arches once more and both agree they think they have a good idea of what the true purpose of the item is but they didn’t get a chance to test that theory before Kit was captured by the Seanchan and was swept up into that chaos and Telcia in the drama of her own life’s issues. The idea included the theory that the arches offer an escape (seeing the silver lighted arch to leave through) when the situation gets too stressed for the young person’s mind and “since” it knows what girl fears, somehow it’s working with their mental issues/fears/or things they are tense about in general… and is (in theory) operated by the unknowing child (this also explains how the arches may effect an ability to channel if someone tries to do it in the arches, being that it deals with the mind.)

The Three Silver Arches – Regression/Progression Therapy Device
Activation: Enter [according to the WoT RPG by Wizards]
Affinities: None Needed Any May Use [WOT RPG]
Size: Huge
Weight: 800 lb.
Location: White Tower Basement, Tar Valon
The Silver Arches lie within the White Tower Basements in a room where they alone stand. The whole Ter’Angreal is in the form of three, connected Silver Arches just high enough for two persons to walk through side by side.
Traditionally, since the breaking these Arches have been used as a test for those who would become Aes Sedai by forcing each girl (who does not know what to expect when she enters) to face, alone, what she fears most about what was, what is (or is going to be), and what will be in the distant future.
However, when the person entering understands what they are looking to see, they can relive that event or series of events which has adverse effected them (or deal with a phobia of the present or future); just as though they were allowed to go back (or forward) in time to do so. And because of the nature of the arches, making the event feel “so real” the mind is able to work through multiple possible circumstances or observe the event in such a way as to “work through” the issue in a “healthy” and “safe” way.
Should the stress level of the patient reach a critical/unhealthy level an emergency exit “appears” and the person is allowed to leave to attempt the therapy again later. It is this reason why it’s critical that the patient does NOT enter the arches alone. Sometimes a trauma or phobia can be so great that if someone experiences something too painful and they can’t find the “strength” to return to the “real world” instead they will die rather than “getting past” their issue. Someone entering with the patient can act as a guidepost and actually save the life of the patient if it comes to a point when they can’t deal with the stress and exit themselves.

The Day of Depuration
Staring/Wanted:
Sirayn
Telcia
Elyssa (due to Ter’angreal related talent, and Telcia’s recent work with her on her mentee’s mental issue)
General Summery :
After “Eyes Up & Westward” http://dmpsw.com/dr/viewtopic.php?t=827 Telcia decides the time to take the “Internal War Against the Shadow” to the next level in a desperate attempt to strengthen herself and her first mentee, Sirayn, for their bid to help lead in the battle ahead. Early one morning (before first light) the women involved with the scene meet and head down into the bowels of the White Tower.
Armed with her and Kit’s theories, knowing how desperate their minds have been in the past, she and Sirayn go to find out the truth about the Ter’Angreal to not only heal the wounds of their pasts (or die trying) and possibly regain the respect of the Tower and give them the “status” needed to lead and make a difference.
The two will enter facing, together, the ghosts of their past… helping each other to work past their issues (or at least reach a level of acceptance which they can truly begin to heal from.) The events we want to “relive” have yet to be chosen and will be presented to the staff, for approval, once the rp has received an approval over all.
Upon exiting the three will have learned the dangers of this item as well as the way to operate it and a new use for it which they, together with Elyssa, will present to the Hall of the Tower and likely taking a minor penance for using the Ter’Angreal without permission first and endangering themselves in such a foolish way. Though I imagine this would be between the Amyrlin and us and done in private due to the fact that we were actually successful. Of course, had we failed and not died… lol… well, thankful they don’t. *smiles*
Important Notes:
I’d like to point out (and anyone who has read my rps over the years) that this is not only something that I felt (and sira felt) would be a cool rp… but it has roots in my past five years here at DM where I’ve tried to get involved in people’s raising scenes, written in MANY of my rps Telcia’s thoughts/fears/hopes about the arches and even research discussions with a PC who had the Ter’angreal Talent. So, as you can see, there was a lot of build up to this… icly 200 years or so… not a small amount of time to dedicate to the research of one Ter’Angreal. This would really be one heck of a bit of closure to put on Telcia’s hate of this object… as well as some of both women’s tortured pasts… and bring both into good standing with the Tower once more.
One last thing, Elyssa’s presence not only is important so she can document what occurs (knowing Ter’Angreal as she does) but also so that she can keep the Ter’Angreal going. She will have to accept the penance too but will also take some of the glory to the Blue Ajah with her for this discovery AND help dispel the idea reds and blues can NEVER work together. Expect tension pre-this rp though with Telcia and Elyssa.
NOTE ON RETURNING TO THE ARCHES: For a second time through the arches (since you know what to expect going in) my thought is that for the person who isn’t the “patient” (we’ll call them the “Doctor”) the scene is always VERY NEARLY & clearly “not real” but, instead, they are aware that this is a “mindscape” (a world created within the Ter’Angreal by the patient’s mind that could kill a person… such is the power of a human mind enhanced by the OP.)
At the start… for the “patient” it’s not real but as they become more emotionally involved (usually only a few moments; like in the books how the scene feels like there should is “something they’re not remembering” and then that feeling passes almost in an instant) it becomes real as their mind begins to accept the reality.
IE: Telcia realizes just when/where she is in the start of the first arch as well as what is about to happen… and then… she’s Telcia of that “past time” who will not believe (even when hanging off the edge of the White Tower in a rain storm) that it’s all a fake world of her mind and arches.
NEEDING APPROVAL: For future reference in rps, each time a person goes through the arches and creates a new possible way things could have played out… that “possible world” (or portal stone world) is created and thusly can be accessed later by any of the same means that a portal stone world could be accessed.
ARCH ONE (DRAFT):
I see Telcia (a young Red Sister) and Sirayn (an Accepted) waking up in those roles in Telcia’s room, the night of the event. Telcia goes to sit up in her bed having “woke up”… realizes how LONG her hair is (only one point in her life did she have hair hanging to her calves), hears the thunder outside, and knows exactly the night this is.
She panics and runs down the hall in her night shift… Accepted Sira (who was penning a book & apparently had also fallen asleep) jumps up and follows… not sure what place/time you’re in exactly or what is happening that Telcia is reacting to. On this night there is a HUGE rain storm (flooded the river and by the rp was one of the biggest on record) and as Sira catches up to her mentor… here’s Telcia climbing up the side of the tower (out a window in the novice quarters) and Sira has to follow. Keep in mind Sira knows this is the Arches and Telcia has lost herself by this point.
They get up there in time to see what happened… Muir (who approved me seeing her here on the condition I don’t KNOW she’s BA yet) telling her she’s sorry for having to her Telcia’s best friend, that Melanie had “just heard too much” and had to go for her and Telcia’s sake (which really did happen.) Melanie falls to her death as Muir pushes her off the rooftop. Telcia gets to see this and is stunned into inaction as Sira is climbing up just in time to catch the end of the horrible scene. That’s when the silver arch exit arch appears at this point as Telcia is all but psychotic.
Sirayn and Telcia embrace the source and proceed to throw down with Muirenn who manages a good blow of force on Telcia (who already wants to die) and she falls off the roof snagging her shift on metal drainage tunnel which goes off the roof. Sira must choose to kill Muir (while she has the shot) or save Tel. She chooses Tel.
Tel sees the silver arch but wants to die for not having done something more; loving her “sister” so much she wants to go with her. Her blame/self-hate becoming too much to bear any more. Sira has to convince Telcia at this point that it was never her fault and there was nothing that could be done. Telcia has to accept this before she can be saved. Cliff hanger ends with Sira pulling her to safety (muir is gone by then) and the two walk out the flickering silver arch together.
In the end Telcia will get to finally lay her dead friends in her mind (or her guilt over them) but she will desperately be clinging to the fact that Muir’s presence was her mind being evil NOT that muir really did this. BEFORE THE SECOND ARCH, SIRA IS PRETTY CERTAIN IT WAS A FORETELLING, AND WANTS TO KICK MUIR’S ASS HARD CORE… SEE SECOND ARCH NOTES.
ARCH TWO (DRAFT):
The scene would be similar to the original rp except that in place of Seiaman (originally she was also captured at the same time as Sirayn) it would have been Telcia also seized and shielded; so both sisters would have a rather rude awakening as they come to in this scene.
For Sirayn there would be some seriously weird deja-vu going on because stuff isn’t quite the same (there’s an explanation for already being short one hand and so on) so she’s trying to deal with that, while doing her best to provoke their captors – since last time (in the real world) she successfully managed to get the Dreadlady to lose saidar and thus drop the shield (although nobody escaped)
Sira cracks quite quickly once she realises they intend to cut off her other hand, handing over Tower Secrets right away for starters, thus provoking the silver arch to arrive as their exit.
Telcia… seeing what’s happening, first tries to lure the Dreadlady off Sira and to focus on her instead (feeling stronger than Sira who is obviously not dealing with this well and not know this ISN’T what sira did the first time) and when it’s clear this dreadlady is the focus of Sira’s issues… she tries to persuade Sira that this situation not her fault per se.
Since that is Sira’s biggest problem (or will be once she cracks in this arch, as she didn’t do in the original rp) – and as Sira begins to believe Telcia the Dreadlady’s supposed strength (not real op, of course, just the force of Sira’s fear in her mind) will weaken.
Telcia then gets free (being stronger in the op, Sira sees her as “stronger”) battle ensues and she helps to free Sira as well. Sira then gets to kill Amiarin (as she didn’t before) and the two escape (literally) having defeated Sira’s demon.
In the end Sira will be able to compare the two events (reality and the arches) and say “where it mattered, in the real reality, I didn’t break” hence becoming stronger for the experience. Of course, due to the things she doesn’t want to admit (even to herself) that were real in this arch… she acceptes Telcia’s “lie” that some things we see just aren’t real. Thusly, so long as Sira never can accept her own issues, Muirenn won’t be confronted by Sirayn.
ARCH THREE (DRAFT):
TOTAL APPOCOLYPSE SCENE… Tower in ruins, people dead every where… Sira is black and fighting for the shadow (having been forced to take the oaths to the shadow)… Telcia is with the Sisters of the Light.
Both women are kicking ass on both sides of the line giving a really terrifying image of Tar Valon in the Heart of Tarmon Gaidon. Then Tel realizes who is leading the Shadow’s forces there as she sees her old mentee Sira take up leadership (after someone in charge dies in terrible ways) and the WT/Light forces charge in for their victory attack. REALIZE BOTH WOMEN ARE LOST TO THIS SCENE AS BOTH HAVE ISSUES ON THIS ONE. BIG TIME DANGER AS BOTH WOMEN’S FEARS ARE FEEDING EACH OTHER! (ie: why AOL peeps never used this lightly and there were “trained professionals” who guided people through the arches)
Sira and her crew slaughter folks by the score… Telcia and WT peeps do the same… but WT forces get a hold of Sira as it seems the WT wins… but at a GREAT & GRAVE cost.
The WT is destroyed, Tar Valon in shambles and sinking into the river… this should be written with MAJOR *shudders* dramatic stuff. I think Sira and I both will have a ball with this arch.
Sira is beaten/tortured by desperate Light forces (including Sisters who lead this inquisition) in order to get needed information, she’s put through hell and high water… Telcia tries to urge her to repent but Sira won’t/can’t (duh)
As she does this, Telcia’s fellow sisters are trying to push her aside with the whole “You shouldn’t be here etc” because of her own short comings in the past. “Go help the survivors” sort of placation is given but Telcia only walks a short distance away and continues to watch.
Telcia watches until she can’t take any more…then… she rushes in and doing the whole Anime “tears in eyes, screaming in desperation, power flying everywhere” run of fury™… she grabs Sira and rushes off FINALLY making a decision for herself based on what she KNOWS is right without doubt (something she hasn’t really ever done, doubt is a HUGE character flaw of hers) and Sira (seeing the purity of her act of selflessness…) finds the light inside herself again.
In the end, both women come out injured by the event (scaring we may or may not keep as reminders… could be a good penance really too, being made to wear the reminder of our foolishness/bravery) and emotionally closer than before.
